Kidney Stones

Kidney stones are solid accretions (crystals) of dissolved minerals in urine found inside the kidneys or ureters. Also known as nephrolithiasis, urolithiasis or renal calculi. They vary in size from as small as a grain of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body in the urine stream; if they grow relatively large before passing (on the order of millimeters), obstruction of a ureter and distention with urine can cause severe pain most commonly felt in the flank, lower abdomen and groin.

Kidney Infection

Kidney Infection is an ascending urinary tract infection that has reached the pyelum (pelvis) of the kidney (nephros in Greek). If the infection is severe, the term "urosepsis" is used interchangeably. It requires antibiotics as therapy.

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection of the urinary tract with micro-organisms. The condition often shows no symptoms. UTI's are often defined as an infection anywhere from the kidneys to the urethra.

Prostatitis

Prostatitis is any form of inflammation of the prostate gland. Because women do not have a prostate gland, it is a condition only found in men. Prostatitis may account for up to 25 percent of all office visits by young and middle-age men for complaints involving the genital and urinary systems.
